Teratomas .2010 by PeteHamilton Teratomas .2010 by PeteHamilton
Re imagining of a painting done last year.

teratoma (monstrous tumor)..

A type of tumor that has developed from ovarian cells, that may contain several different types of tissue, such as hair, teeth, muscle, and bone.

Malignant teratoma is a type of cancer that involves cysts that contain one or more of the three main types of cells found in a developing baby (embryo).

These originals are amongst the goriest things Ive seen, they really have stayed with me.
To make artwork out of it, enhancing the Gorey, and make it esthetic... brilliant.

Photos of the real thing stayed with me from first glance years back, "captivating" to say the least... shrug... Brilliant idea to do artwork out of them.

Cool, I've seen those in med school :)
It's teratoma maturum, there is also teratoma immaturum, that doesn't have any recognizable structures and are also found in men's testis :)

Very dark and grizzly. Just glad the color is subdued. I do like the background a lot though.

Oh my god, I've heard of this! A teacher I had in high school told us about a cyst that developed on her hand that supposedly had teeth and a spinal cord and the doctor didn't know what it was.

Great idea for an art piece. Wonderfully grotesque.

Yes. I just googled all of this and it said you can develop them almost anywhere, not just in the uterus.

Roflmaooooo

That's so creepy bahahaha

"Yes, this is my pet teratoma. Isn't he cute!"

If I ever had the misfortune to have one of those, I would totally keep in in a jar once it was removed.
